I usually charge an initial consultation fee which is non-refundable.
But this can be credited towards a legal fee when you officially retain
me by executing a retainer agreement within 30 days from the date of consultation.
I will discuss this beforehand to obtain your consent and proceed. I will reserve my right to
choose whether I should respond to quite extensive list of questions from you via e-mail
without ascertaining any relevant facts and/or perusing key documents. This is necessary
for our office to maintain our integrity as a counsel.
For Prospective Clients in New York City: My office policy is that I will
see my client only by appointment. I will not discuss any details pertaining to
any legal matter over the phone. In order for me to ascertain the nature of your
problem, or whether you need professional help or not, I need to review all relevant
facts and documents. Sometimes some research is required. If you have to cancel
or be late for the appointment, please call within a reasonable time so that I can
allocate my time in handling my clients' affairs.
For Prospective Clients in other states or foreign countries:
You may contact me via e-mail first to inquire the matter, subject to 1. above.
If I can possibly obtain relevant documents via e-mail
in lieu of face-to-face conference, I will offer an initial consultation in the same manner as in 1 over the phone or via Skype.
